Very clean, helpful staff, pleasant ambience, great breakfast, ideal location. The rooms were bright and airey, the bathrooms roomy and pristine and the free wi fi was an unexpected bonus.
Absolutely nothing. I would highly recommend it.
Friendly staff, plentiful breakfast, good value for money, nice to get a balcony
bit noisy at the front of the hotel as there is a busy road - we didnt ask to be moved though as it wasnt too bad for us (living in a city). Pool a bit small but ok as it was out of season and I prefer the beach anyway (which was lovely)
Very comfortable good location but only had one night in hotel so probably didn't have long enough to form opinion but based on our one night stay would certainly consider coming back.
This hotel has five star customer service. The staff are amazing and cannot do enough for their customers. We stayed at this hotel during the volcanic ash crises in April 2010. Originally we were to stay for 7 nights but ended up staying for 11 nights. The staff made us feel very welcome and were unbelievably kind to everyone. Large glass of wine €2 - Bottle of beer €1.50! Guests also arrived from other hotels around that had hiked up the room price on them. The breakfast is lovely with lots of choice. The restaurant is on the top floor with lovely views around. The location is great with nice restaurants very local to the hotel and the village of Olhos d'Agua a ten minute walk away. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.
Location- very central , neat and tidy .. We would go back again
went to beach regularly and had lovely dinners in the local restaurants
they have the most amazing friendly staff who would do absolutely anything for you and the value for money was amazing. also the breakfast was buffet style and you could have eaten as much as you wanted and everything was topped up regularly. for value for money this hotel is great. the only downside that there really is not much for younger couples to do apart from when you go into albufiera
We thought the hotel was excellent value for money. In a nice location as it was away from the hustle and bustle of Albufeira and Vilamoura but was on a good bus route or taxis available. The village of Olhos d'Agua was a pleasant stroll with plenty of restaurants and nice shops. The meals in the restaurants nearby were excellent value for money. The hotel staff were most pleasant and efficient. We were able to check into our room early which was welcomed. The breakfasts were excellent lovely and fresh for a continental breakfast. The rooms were spacious with balcony and spotlessly clean. The interior of the hotel was modern and comfortable. The pool area most pleasant. Overall a very enjoyable relaxing time at the Hotel.
Everything was all right. The hotel is situated very well - near the hotel turistic center, supermarket, cafe, bars and restaurants. The room is clean, There is all modern conveniences in the room - large bathroom, air-condition, large balcon with plastic furniture. The breakfast was very full - fruits, orange juice, coffee, cheese, ham, corn-flakes etc. The breakfast is served on the roof and you can see a great scenery. The staff is a very kind, polite and hospitable.
The pool was quite small but the hotel is located near some beaches
We had a very warm welcome from the reception staff when we arrived and throughout our stay they couldnt be more helpful. The hotel was really clean and the bedroom a good size the continental breakfast each morning had a good selection of food. Overall we had a lovely time here.
The only downside to the hotel would be the size of the pool. Not big enough to have a good swim.
The hotel was a good value, close to the center, with a helpful staff, and without too rowdy a guest crowd. We would definitely recommend it to someone staying in Albufeira or nearby.
Albufeira itself draws a bit of the stag party crowd. The Hotel Velamar itself somehow drew a bit quieter group of tourists, which suited us, but this part of the Algarve does get its share of people who drink and shout "Woo-hoo!" When they get excited. Nothing too horrible, but perhaps worth noting.
Good breakfast and powerful shower.
Thin walls and balcony overlooking main road.
The hotel and room itself was excellent.
The pool area had towels put on sunbeds at 7am.
This hotel was awesome! Lived up to all the positive reviews. The rooms are very clean, the breakfast is delicious, the staff is wonderful and they work very hard to make all of your arrangements for you. We wanted to rent bikes and they called at least 5 different places for us, and also arranged transportation to and from the airport and to and from multiple other activities. Also, they really came through for us when our flight got delayed for almost 2 days and we had to come back last minute. It was not a problem for them. Would definitely stay here again!
This is a good hotel and deserves it reputation. The staff are very friendly and the hotel is kept clean. Not the nicest position, on a busy main road with a fair amount of surrounding noise - including cockerels that crow at 4pm and several dogs barking. Wi-Fi reception is poor in most area's with the exception of the bar. Breakfast is excellent with a good selection on offer. Pool area is small and not many umbrella's available and some of those that were were broken. Overall we stayed for 8 days and enjoyed it.
Beds are very hard and pillows very small.1 Member of staff tried to short change me twice, whether it was a genuine mistake I'm not sure.
